She dove in after him transforming in mid air. She brought him back to the surface and then onto dry land. Aja gave him mouth to mouth resuscitation to help him breathe again.

She came up to the surface gasping for air. She was afraid she had lost him forever. Aja didn't know whether she should stay by the lake or go back to Jonathan.

As she slept a strange transformation was happening to her. At one point she woke up unable to breathe. She felt gills in her neck and she dove into the lake so she could breathe. Her legs had turned to fins. She had become a mermaid.
